• We often think that we must impact as many people as possible (mass market).
• We're just waiting for our "big break" and overnight success, but this truly happens by building an audience bit by bit from scratch.
• True Fan: someone who loves your work, will buy again and again and will spread the word about you
• 1000 true fans or Smallest Viable Audience: the numbers you need in order to make a decent living might surprise you.
• Appeal to the masses in an artificial way and your work will suffer
• Appeal to the fringes and you'll do your best work
